Hi folks, I’ve just gone through the stressful process of finding a new flat and signing the tenancy agreement, and now I’ve realised there’s one thing I hadn’t really considered properly: the state of the place before I actually move in. The landlord has assured me that it’s “cleaned to a professional standard,” but I’ve heard plenty of stories from friends who moved in somewhere only to find grimy ovens, dusty cupboards, and bathrooms that clearly hadn’t been scrubbed properly. That’s why I wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with moving in cleaning and whether it’s something I should arrange myself rather than trusting the landlord’s word.
Is it common to hire a company that specialises in this? I’ve seen ads online for cleaning firms that offer move-in or end-of-tenancy services, and they all promise sparkling kitchens and spotless bathrooms, but I wonder if it’s worth the extra cost. On the one hand, I’d feel a lot more comfortable unpacking my belongings into a place I know has been thoroughly disinfected. On the other hand, moving is already so expensive with deposits, fees, and all the rest that I hesitate to spend more if it’s not absolutely necessary.
Another thing I’m not sure about is timing. Do you usually arrange moving in cleaning before you actually bring in the boxes and furniture, or is it possible to do it after? It seems logical to get it done beforehand, but coordinating access with the landlord and the cleaning service might be tricky. Has anyone managed to schedule this smoothly?
I’m also curious about what these services typically include. Is it just a standard deep clean of floors and surfaces, or do they also tackle things like inside cupboards, windows, appliances, and even carpets? I’d hate to pay for something and then realise I still need to spend my first weekend scrubbing the oven.
So for those of you who’ve moved recently, did you arrange [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] yourselves, rely on the landlord’s promise, or just do it all on your own with friends and family? Was it worth the peace of mind to know everything was sanitised, or did you regret spending the money?
